When Justine Electra burst onto the scene in the Berlin - and therefore European - indie world in 2006 it seemed that an exciting new voice was with us, in the shape of the witty, tuneful, original album Soft Rock released on City Slang in 2006.
Its growth was steady - and unstoppable, despite a lack of big studio funds. A solid little fan base developed, waiting to see what the next offering would bring. They had to wait a long time - but those who continued to follow her with patience, or who remember thinking they wanted more, have a freshly-launched reward at last.
Green Disco is certainly an album to put on, turn up the volume, and press the repeat button. It's a record you can play all day for the pleasure of the music - but that reveals more depth when you really sit and listen to the words, the devilish asides, and the clever rhythms she has created, and pulled from a passing line of guest collaborators.
The album is however, definitely eclectic, recorded in studios from Sydney to San Francisco and of course in Justine Electra's home studio in Berlin.
